Tournament Rules and Conditions of Play 

YMG Junior Masters 2007 

1 The YMG Junior Masters tournaments will be played under the rules of The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, and the following YMG tournament rules and conditions.

2. Participants can only participate in one event.

3. It is a Condition of Entry that each competitor is accompanied to the event by a parent or nominated adult (18+) who volunteers to act as a Match Scorer. A draw will be made to select 2 scorers for each match. if you are selected as a scorer and are not available YOU MUST nominate a replacement scorer. Failure to do this will disqualify the participants entry. PLEASE NOTE: parents will not score their own child's match.

4. The YMG Junior Masters tournaments utilise a Flag Competition golf format. Each competitor shall be allocated a number of strokes dependent upon age (see item 5 below).

Age group shall be determined by the entrant's age on 1st January 2007. All entrants shall be under 18 years of age on 1st January 2007.

6. All entries are subject to the approval of YMG, who reserve the right to accept or reject any entry.

7. All competitors must check in at the registration desk at least 30 minutes before their starting time, and must be at the first tee 10 minutes before their starting time.

8. Each group of competitors will be accompanied by a scorer who will record the number of strokes taken. The scorer, whose decision shall be final, may consult the Tournament Director where necessary.

9. All competitors shall play from tees allocated by YMG on the day of the event.

10. Should a competitor fail to play from a bunker after three attempts, they may place the ball beside the bunker, with only the three failed attempts to count.

11. If a competitor should enter a water hazard they may drop the ball either side of the hazard, not nearer the hole, for a penalty of one stroke (in other words treat all water hazards as lateral hazards) or use the DROP ZONE where applicable.

12. Flags of other competitors that interfere with play shall be marked, removed and then replaced by the marker.

13. A maximum of 9 strokes in total may be taken at any hole.

14. Relief may be taken from any temporary obstruction without penalty by dropping the ball within two club lengths from the nearest point of relief, not nearer the hole.

15. Air shots do not count!

16. Lost ball - drop at nearest point - one shot penalty.

17. 0nly caddies aged 18 years and under on the day of the event may be used.

PLEASE NOTE: For safety reasons, we ask that parents spectate from a distance, observing the '10 metre rule' and do not have contact with their children whilst they are playing. Failure to comply with the regulation will result in disqualification of the competitor.

DISCLAIMER: Save for death or personal injury caused by breach of its duty, Young Masters Golf Limited shall not be responsible for death, injury, disease, damage or loss sustained by any person competing in, or attending, the YMG Junior Masters tournaments.

YMG reserves the right to amend these rules or change tournament venues as necessary.
