A student of the Young Masters Golf programme took part in the final of the Callaway Junior World Golf Championship in San Diego in July … at the age of six!
Rory McDonald O’Brien, from Telford, progressed to the gold level of the Young Masters Golf programme at the 3 Hammers Golf Academy in Wolverhampton, under the tutelage of professional Andy Proudman.
Andy Proudman said: “We’re all really proud of Rory – he has a gift for golf and it’s great to watch him progress. He’s a true local talent and we hope that he goes all the way.”
A pupil at St Winifred’s School, Shrewsbury, young Rory hopes to follow in the footsteps of his golfing heroes Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson, who all played in the Callaway Junior Championships as youngsters.
