Last call for entries for the Junior
Wales Open!
Dateline: March 2006
Junior golfers who would like to play in the
Junior Wales Open, presented by Coca-Cola, had better
get their skates on as entries the regional qualifers
are filling fast.
Qualifiers for the event are to be held across Wales
between the 17th and 20th April, but already entries
for the Marriott St Pierre qualifier (18th April) are
full and the others are filling fast too.
Great response
"We've had a great response so far," said Celtic Manor
Resort's Kevin Smith, "and it's shaping up to be a brilliant
tournament.
"But with just over a week to go, we still have a few
places in the qualifiers for boys and girls at the other
3 events, so if you get your entry in quick you could
be playing in the National Final at The Celtic Manor
Resort in June."
Each competitor must hold a handicap certificate, but
you do not need to belong to a club. Maximum handicaps
are 36 for girls and 28 for boys.
18 hole qualifiers
Qualifying events will be played over 18 holes and competitors
will be split into four categories according to age.
The winners from each region then go on to the National
Final held on the Saturday of The Celtic Manor Wales
Open, a leading European Tour event.
Whilst the top names in golf battle it out on the Roman
Road course, budding juniors will compete on the renowned
Wentwood Hills championship course. In the evening,
finalists will have a chance to meet their heroes at
the Player's Barbecue, where a top professional will
present the champions with their prizes.
Final at The Celtic Manor Resort
Regional Qualifiers are taking place at Builth Wells
on 17th April; St Pierre on 18th April (entry full);
Royal St Davids at Harlech on 19th April; and Carmarthen
on 20th April. The final will be held on 3rd of June
at The Celtic Manor Resort.
There are categories boys and girls in four categories:
