Youngsters warm up for Masters
Final
Dateline: 1 September 2006
Some of the UK and Ireland best emerging
junior golfers are preparing themselves for their toughest
challenge yet - the National Final of the YMG Junior
Masters 2006, scheduled for Sunday 8 October.
The
event will take place at The Warwickshire Golf &
Country Club near Warwick in the Midlands, where the
130 boys and girls will compete for the title of YMG
Junior Masters Champion over the challenging Kings course.
Earned their places
Competitors earned their place in the National Final
after winning their age categories at one of 13 regional
qualifiers held throughout the UK and Ireland during
July and August. The youngest competitor teeing it up
at the final will be just 6 years old, with the eldest
being 16.
The course will be measure approximately 5,600 yards
and will provide a stern test for the YMG youngsters,
but tournament director Dave Gosling is sure the competitors
will be more than up to the challenge:
"Already winners..."
"Each of the finalists is already a winner, having
finished first in the age category at their YMG Masters
regional qualifier, so I know we'll be seeing some of
the most talented junior golfers battling it out for
the YMG Masters title."
The first tee time will be around 8.30am on Sunday
8 October at the Warwickshire Golf and Country Club,
which is located a few miles north of the town of Warwick,
just 5 minutes drive from the M40 motorway.
Spectators are welcome.
