Deer Park pounce on Junior Pairs
place
Dateline: August 2005. Dublin, Ireland
Four youngsters from Deer Park Hotel
and Golf Course have earned the honour of representing
Ireland in the YMG International Junior Pairs Final,
but only just!
Playing at the Ireland national final of the new junior
tournament held at the Balcarrick Golf Club, Vicky Ruttle,
Stephen Ludgate, Alan Carroll and Stephen McDonald finished
top of the pile by just a single shot from the team
representing the host club.
With a place in the international final at the St Andrews
Bay Resort & Spa in Scotland at stake for the winners,
there was a tremendous battle amongst the young teams.
Balcarrick team fought all the way...
The Balcarrick team of Grace Williamson, Padraig Rayfus,
Niall Worth and Ross Mohan fought hard to match the
winning team, but at the end of the 18-hole Team Texas
event, they fell just short by the narrowest of margins
of a single shot.
With each team having to be made up of at least one
player under 7-years old, an 8- to 11-year old, a player
aged 12- or over and at least one girl player, there
was some terrific golf and tremendous support was received
from the host club Balcarrick for all the teams taking
part.
Deer Park winners head for Fife...
The winning team from Deer Park (pictured above, left

go forward to represent Ireland in the final of the
YMG International Junior Pairs, scheduled for October
6 at the St Andrews Bay Resort & Spa in Fife, Scotland.
