YMG hits the big 500!
Dateline: 5 May 2005
Slieve Russell Hotel and Golf Resort
in Ireland became the 500th YMG Junior Golf Academy.
The impressive golf resort near Ballyconnell in County
Cavan has joined some 70 other clubs in Ireland to offer
youngsters the chance to learn golf through the game's
best structured junior golf programme.
"The coaching and development of junior golfers is vital
to the future success of golf," said Slieve Russell's
head teaching professional Tristan Mullally. "That's
why we were keen to be part of the YMG Junior Golf programme
as we think it's the perfect solution for getting more
youngsters involved in the game."
"YMG will prove popular..."
Slieve Russell is one of Ireland's finest hotels and
boasts an 18-hole championship course and outstanding
coaching facilities, which include a floodlit driving
range and 9-hole par three course. "We know the YMG
programme will prove extremely popular here at Slieve
Russell," says Tristan.
YMG was only launched in the UK in the summer of 2002,
but has already introduced more than 20,000 children
to the game, and that number is growing daily.
500th club already
"It is hard to believe that it is less than three years
since the first YMG course was run," says David, "but
here we are already celebrating the launch of the 500th
YMG Junior Golf Academy at Slieve Russell and more clubs
are joining us every week. With so much going on, the
future is looking very positive for junior golf!"
